Terms and conditions
What this website is, what we do as a travel agent, how a booking is made, and what happens about changes, cancellations, refunds and complaints.
Last reviewed 2026-09-11.
1. Who these terms are with
This website and the services described on it are provided by Kanes Travel Agency Longford Limited, a private company limited by shares registered in Ireland under company number (CRO) 63823, incorporated on 27 July 1978, with its registered office at 27 Ballymahon Street, Longford, N39 K5A4, Ireland. EU VAT number IE4504212J. Telephone +353 43 333 4500, email info@kanestravelagency.com. In these terms "we" and "us" mean that company, and "you" means the person using this site or making a booking.
2. We are a travel agent, not an organiser
We hold Travel Agent Licence TA 0145, issued by the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) under the Transport (Tour Operators and Travel Agents) Act 1982. The current licence expires 30 April 2027 and the IAA publishes the register of licence holders, which you are welcome to check.
We act as the retail agent for the airline, hotel, cruise line, tour operator, car hire company or insurer that actually supplies what you buy. Your contract for the travel itself is with that supplier, on that supplier's terms, which we will identify to you in writing before you commit. We are not the organiser of a package unless your booking confirmation states in terms that we are.
This matters most about insolvency protection. Where what you buy is a package or a linked travel arrangement, the organiser named on your confirmation is the party that holds the protection for it. We will tell you who that is.
3. What this website does and does not do
This website provides information and an itinerary planning tool. It does not sell anything, does not form a contract, and takes no payment. There is no checkout on it.
The planner produces an indicative planning band based on a published model. It is not a quotation, not an offer capable of acceptance, and not a representation that any trip is available at any figure it shows. How our prices work explains the model, its review date and what it excludes.
4. How a booking is actually made
- You tell us what you want, by form, telephone, email or at the counter.
- We check availability with suppliers and send you a written quotation stating the total price, everything it includes, everything it does not, the supplier whose terms apply, the payment dates, and the cancellation and amendment charges.
- A contract comes into existence only when you accept that quotation and we confirm the booking with the supplier. Nothing is booked in your name before that.
- Payment is arranged with us directly. It is never taken through this website.
5. Prices
The price you pay is the price on the quotation you accepted. After acceptance it will not change unless you ask for a change, or a supplier applies a charge that its own terms permit; in either case we tell you which it is and what it costs before it is applied. No compulsory charge is ever added at a later stage that was not on the quotation.
Where a quotation states a period for which the price is held, that period applies. After it, availability and price have to be rechecked, and we will tell you the result before doing anything.
6. Changes and cancellation
Cancellation and amendment charges are set by the supplier holding the booking, not by us, and they differ enormously between a flexible fare and a discounted package. Whichever applies to your booking is stated in the quotation before you accept it.
If we have to cancel or significantly change something, we tell you as soon as we know, explain the options available under the supplier's terms, and, where the arrangement is a package, your statutory rights under the European Union (Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements) Regulations 2019.
Note that the consumer right of withdrawal for distance contracts does not generally apply to travel, carriage or accommodation services provided on a specific date or for a specific period. We would rather say so here than let anyone discover it after the fact.
7. Your statutory rights
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under Irish or European Union consumer law, including the European Union (Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements) Regulations 2019, the Consumer Rights Act 2022, and the European and international rules on air passenger rights. Where these terms and those laws conflict, those laws win.
8. Travel documents, visas and health
You are responsible for holding a valid passport and any visa or health documentation your route requires. We check requirements for the route you are actually flying and tell you what we find, and we will prepare documentation where that is part of what you asked us to do. We cannot obtain a visa for you and we cannot guarantee that one will be granted: those decisions belong to the destination country's authorities. A refused visa does not create a right to a refund from a supplier whose terms do not provide one.
9. Insurance
Travel insurance is arranged through a regulated insurance intermediary and is subject to that insurer's policy terms, limits and exclusions. We explain what a policy covers and what it does not, and we will flag where a pre-existing medical condition has to be declared, but we are not the insurer and we do not decide claims.
10. What we will not do business in
We do not offer, arrange, promote or accept bookings connected with gambling or gaming travel packages sold as gambling promotions, adult services, financial products or investments, medical or cosmetic procedures marketed as treatment tourism, political campaigning, or any arrangement that would breach sanctions or travel restrictions in force. We do not offer immigration advice, and we do not represent anyone before an immigration authority. This site does not solicit funds, offer credit, or advertise any financial return.
11. Complaints
If something goes wrong, tell us. Write to Kanes Travel Agency Longford Limited, 27 Ballymahon Street, Longford, N39 K5A4, Ireland, email info@kanestravelagency.com, or telephone +353 43 333 4500. We acknowledge complaints within five working days and answer them within thirty days.
If you are still not satisfied, the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) regulates licensed travel agents in Ireland, and the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission handles consumer complaints. Where your complaint concerns a supplier's own conduct, the supplier's complaints procedure applies in addition and we will help you use it.
12. This website
We try to keep everything here accurate and current, and we state the date the identity and register details were last checked on each page that carries them. Descriptions of destinations and services are general and are not promises about any particular trip. We may change the content of the site at any time.
The text, design, code and the itinerary planning model on this site belong to us. You may read, print and share pages for your own use. You may not copy the site or its model for a competing service.
External links are provided because they are useful, most often to a public register so that you can verify something we have said. We are not responsible for the content of sites we do not operate.
13. Liability
We are liable for our own negligence and for failing to exercise reasonable skill and care in the agency services we provide. We are not liable for the acts or omissions of a supplier with whom your contract is made, beyond our own responsibility as agent. Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
14. Law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the courts of Ireland have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the European Union, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory rules of the law of the country where you live.
